WK 1 - 7 Deadly Sins

PRIDE

Isaiah 14:12-15; Luke 18:12-14

QUESTION: Are you becoming more comfortable with sin or more convicted by it?

Every deadly sin begins with a deadly lie - that something created can satisfy what only the Creator can.

PRIDE: An irrational belief that one is essentially better, superior, and more important than others. It challenges God's sovereignty and questions His will and ways.

Pride puts the "I" in S "I" N.

PRIDE'S HEART POSTURE: I know best. I am enough.

1. Pride skews the way we view ourselves (v 11)

2. Pride skews the way we view others (vv 9, 11)

3. Pride skews our relationship with God (v 14)

PRIDE'S REMEDY: Humility - God knows best. Christ is enough.

HUMBLE YOURSELF:

1. Surrender your plans to God (Proverbs 3:5-6)

2. Serve someone who can't repay you (Philippians 2:3-4)

3. Confess your sin quickly (Proverbs 28:13)

4. Honor others above yourself (Philippians 2:3-4)

GOD HUMBLES: through suffering and failure (2 Cor.12:7-10)
